A Future Of Mechanical Trees
Photoshop Cs
August 2004

This is my non-winning entry for the 2D Machine Flesh Challenge. The story behind the image is supposed to show a future where trees require mechanical alterations in order to sustain themselves.
The technique/process I used started with a large outline sketch, then scanning the drawing to Photoshop, colouring each section in solid colour with highlights and shadows, and then creating textures from my own photography and applying them to certain sections of the image. Once that was done, I would go back and clean things up such as shadows and highlights.
Even though I got a few critiques from people during the contest, I want to get people’s opinions and thoughts on the piece as a whole, not just, what the requirements were for the contest.
Thanks,
Marek Okon
